It is with the deepest sympathy and regret that must inform the membership of the Gordons Corner Fire Company of the PASSING OF CHARTER MEMBER DAVID DONOVAN.
Dave was not only a CHARTER MEMBER but also was a LIFE MEMBER (34 yrs), served as President of the Fire Company and President of the Board of Fire Commissioners.

AGE: 81 MANALAPAN
David J. Donovan, 81, of Manalapan, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in the Bronx before moving to Manalapan 47 years ago. Dave fought for his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War and was a former member of the Gordons Corner Fire Company in Manalapan from 1963 through 1997. He was a foreman for Brookway Glass Company for many years and then a bus driver for the Freehold Regional Bus Company, both of Freehold.
He was predeceased by his two wives, Joan and Josephine. He is survived by his daughter, Jeanne "Jo Jo" Raffa of Manalapan; and three grandchildren, Nicholas, David and Gary.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 29, with a funeral service at 8 p.m. at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30 at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Memorial donations may be made to the Gordons Corner Fire Company, 683 Tennent Road, Manalapan, NJ 07726.
